On paper, the strongest argument in this whole list. Thunderbolt 4 is a certified specification: dual 4K at 60Hz, 40Gbps, guaranteed. Every other TB4 dock we recommend starts at $249.99, and this one is $213.75 with 2.5Gbps Ethernet rather than the gigabit that docks at three times the price still ship.

The compromises are real and worth naming:

96W power delivery, against 140W on the premium docks — a high-draw laptop charges slowly under load.
Ethernet is the clearest recurring complaint from owners of this specific listing.
3.7 stars across 409 ratings is a weak, thin record next to the CalDigit's.
Mac support is limited. The listing names non-M1/M2 MacBooks on macOS 11 or later, and says Thunderbolt 3 laptops lose dual-display support.

Owners split on noise at the higher fan speeds, and there is a specific repeated complaint about the filter door not closing cleanly.

Where we did not add one, and why

Two categories had an Amazon Basics product available that we deliberately left off.

Monitors. Amazon Basics only makes 1080p panels. Our monitor guide tells readers that 1440p is the practical sweet spot and to skip 1080p, and a $115.99 house-brand 1080p monitor does not change that. Adding it would have contradicted our own advice for the sake of one more listing.

Smart plugs. This is the more interesting rejection. The Amazon Basics smart plug is $25.99 and works with Alexa only — no Matter, no HomeKit, no Google. The Kasa Matter two-pack we already recommend is $20.89, and the Tapo Matter mini is $11.99. It is more expensive than both and locked to one assistant.

The trap: a house brand is a pricing strategy, not a promise. It is priced against the category average, not against the best-value product in the category — so wherever a specialist is already fighting a price war, the house brand can quietly end up the expensive option.

The same logic ruled out Amazon Basics portable SSDs, where the 1TB sits well above Crucial and Samsung for the same capacity.
